GENERAL SUMMARY: RN I is an entry level registered nurse in the PACE (Professional Advancement/Clinical Excellence) program with less than one-year experience or who has not worked in the acute care setting within the last five years.
Must advance to an RN II after one year.
Works with a team of multi-skilled patient care providers in the delivery of outcome oriented, safe, therapeutic and cost effective care. Identifies patient needs based on professional knowledge and medical plan of care. Learns to establish individualized outcome measures for each patient's care and to delegate interventions based on critical thinking skills and an understanding of the competencies of fellow team members. Under the guidance of the Manager, and/or Charge Nurse, coordinates care to maximize desirable outcomes, patient satisfaction, and cost effective utilization of available personnel and resources. Serves as a representative of the hospital and as a clinical role model in all interactions with patients, family, visitors, physicians, and other staff members.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia.
B. Graduation from an accredited program for Registered Nurses.
C. Minimum of 12 contact hours per year through an accredited provider.
