Job Description

Product management is for engineers that are also interested in business, marketing, and project management. Product managers tend to all functions related to a product line to ensure its success. That includes: market research, product development, new product launching, maintaining the current product line, and phasing out products when necessary. Product managers need to work with many different individuals to achieve business objectives, so ideal candidates should be eager to learn about all functions of the business like product engineering, sales, operations, customer support, inventory management, and marketing. Product Managers need to have a birds-eye view of the Company and the industry, while maintaining technical expertise on the products they manage. A product manager will be the Expert in the product they manage, so someone interested in this role should be excited to own that role and be the go-to person. Product management is an exciting and different role for someone that is interested in both the engineering details in how a product works and the business strategies that will make that product successful.

  • Responsible for a brand, product or product line including development, launch, line management, and sunsets.
  • Develop specifications of future products based on defined customer and business needs.
  • Accurately and regularly communicate specification to global engineering and manufacturing teams to develop products.
  • Conducts comparative analysis against competitors and provides strategic planning of product direction and features.
  • Evaluate industry trends and consumer research to meet customer needs.
  • Capture and analyze customer feedback via in-person meetings, phone, survey, etc.
  • Create plans to drive the marketing and sale of the product; drive execution of plans with support of marketing team.
  • Develops and maintains tools and materials such technical and marketing literature, cutsheets, videos or other digital collateral, selection software, training, etc.
  • Participate in and often lead cross-functional teams to support product or brand.
  • Travel is required for customer visits, special events, and product development meetings. Estimated 25%. Majority domestic travel, some international travel may be required.


  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires at least 2-5 years related experience.
  • Requires ability to work in a cross-functional capacity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
